The Closed National Children’s DanceSport Competition (Under 10) is a specially designed national class, open exclusively to children from Norway aged 6 to 10. Created to inspire joy, learning and confidence, this competition focuses on introducing young dancers to the fundamentals and excitement of DanceSport in a supportive and educational environment.
Freedom of Dance – Standard and Latin
Young couples may perform any or all of the eight Standard and Latin dances of their choice, allowing them to showcase their strengths, creativity and enjoyment of movement. This flexible format encourages exploration, musical expression and personal development rather than pressure or comparison.
International Expertise, Child-Focused Evaluation
Each couple is evaluated by a panel of internationally recognised adjudicators, bringing global expertise and professional insight to a national youth setting. The assessment is based on three clear and age-appropriate criteria:
Movement to Music
Technical Qualities
Partnering Skills
The focus is on development, understanding and positive reinforcement—helping children build strong foundations for future DanceSport participation.
Confidential Feedback for Learning and Growth
A key element of this class is education. Each couple’s teacher receives a confidential written evaluation, providing valuable guidance on strengths and areas for development. These evaluations are not published, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment where progress matters more than results.
Inspiring the Next Generation of DanceSport
This Closed National Competition is about encouragement, enjoyment and learning. It aims to introduce children to the values of DanceSport—musicality, teamwork, discipline and fun—while nurturing confidence and a lifelong love of dance.
Designed with young dancers at heart, this competition offers a positive first step into DanceSport, where children can learn, grow and experience the joy of dancing together.
This class follows the official regulations of the Norwegian Dance Federation, ensuring a safe, fair and development-focused competition environment.
